Fastest Porsche Nürburgring Nordschleife Times
Some say the Nürburgring Nordschleife experience is better than sex. Every lap is so long that when the driver has covered just half of it, there’s still minutes of excitement, fear and pleasure ahead before the lap ends. It is the longest race track in the world. It is fast. And the track is in the mountains, so, the driver experiences 300 m/1000 ft of elevation changes.
A lap time on the race track depends of a lot of things, but most important are the driver, the car, the tyres, tyre pressures, the traffic and ambient conditions. The best is dry weather with temperature around 15 °C/60 °F.
The lap times on this page should not be compared to each other one-on-one – the conditions are not the same, the drivers are not the same, it is not known how each car was equipped/modified/prepared. Finally, the tyres get better every day – if an older car would be equipped with the latest technology tyres, the car would break its former lap record.
Although the page here contains mostly best lap times of street legal Porsches, the quickest Porsche race car laps should be listed, too. A day before the 1983 Nürburgring 1000 km race, Stefan Bellof drove at record speed in the qualification covering the 20.832 km Nordschleife (Northern Loop) in only 6:11,13. This translated to 125 mph/202 km/h average speed and the record standed for 35 years. In 2018, Timo Bernhard managed to beat it with the specially prepared (not racing legal anymore) Porsche 919 Evo. His record of 5 minutes and 19 seconds is a totally unreal lap time, but Stefan Bellof’s time is not worse considering when it was made and with a car that had two times less power, a car that had to comply with the FIA regulations, had the tyre technology of the eighties, had no traction control, no 4WD, a manual transmission.
Record runs are now measured on the full Nordschleife that is 20.832 km long. Earlier, in many occasions, the time was started after the T13 grand stand and stopped before T13 giving the track length of 20.600 km. During the tourist days the main straight is used for getting to the track and then the time can be measured with the stop watch from Bridge to Gantry. This is so-called BTG time. The length of the BTG track is around 19.1 km.
Porsche Nürburgring Lap Times
1. Porsche 919 Evo
Lap Time: 5:19.546 / Car: Porsche 919 Evo / Type: Race Car / Tires: Michelin slicks / Driver: Timo Bernhard / Date: June 29th, 2018
The current outright lap record holder of the Nordschleife, the 919 LMP1 Hybrid Evo was an example of what could be done when there were no motorsports restrictions to meet, and the designers and engineers could find every and any dial and turn it up to 11. Watch the full video, and try to remember that it is playing in real time. It is not sped up. The 919 Evo is just that damned fast.
2. Porsche 956
Lap Time: 6:11.13 / Car: Porsche 956 / Type: Race Car / Tires: Racing slicks / Driver: Stefan Bellof / Date: May 28th, 1983
This is known in many circles simply as “The Impossible Lap.” On May 28th 1983, a 25 year old German Racing driver named Stefan Bellof drove a Porsche 956 in qualifying trim around the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:11.13, a record that was only beaten by the 919 Evo, a span of 35 years. That run required 100% commitment every single millimeter of the 20.8 KM track, and precise driving the likes of which only the truly gifted drivers can achieve.
Then, consider that while the 6:11.13 was done with a clear track, Bellof went on to record a 6:22.02 lap during the race, with other cars in the way. Bellof belongs in the same strata as Senna, Schumacher, and Toivonen, gifted beyond any comparison, even among the legends like Derek Bell and Jacky Ickx. Watch the video.
3. Porsche 991.2 911 GT2 RS MR
Lap Time: 6:38.835 / Car: Porsche 991.2 911 GT2 RS / Type: Modified Production / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R / Driver: Lars Kern / Date: June 14th, 2021
Manthey Racing, a 51% owned subsidiary of Porsche, did their own version of the Nordschleife run on October 25, 2018, recording a time of 6:40.33, which stood as the production car record for 3 years. However, when it came Porsche’s own turn to take a Type 991.2 GT2 RS MR around the ‘Ring, they pulled out all the stops. Officially confirmed by a notary, in the hands of Lars Kern, the driver that set the original Manthey Racing time, running on the barest of barely road legal semislick Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, the car did the lap in an adjusted 6:38.835, as the track length has varied over the many decades of its existence, which has only ever been beaten by Mercedes with the AMG One since. The onboard video.
4. Porsche 992 911 GT3 RS
Lap Time: 6:44.848 / Car: Porsche 992 911 GT3 RS / Type: Full Production / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R / Driver: Jorg Bergmeister / Date: October 5, 2022
If there was any doubt that the new Type 992 911 GT3 RS was rapid, that was summarily and completely squashed when Porsche factory driver Jorg Bergmeister monstered one around the ‘Ring in a mighty (adjusted) 6:44.848, with the stopwatch hitting 6:49.328 before adjustment. The 992 generation has been setting all sorts of records since its introduction, so it really shouldn’t be a surprise that the hardcore GT3 RS variant, in production trim except for a roll bar for safety reasons and using Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, is the fastest of the unmodified 911s. Onboard video.
5. Porsche 991 911 GT2 RS Weissach
Lap Time: 6:47.3 / Car: Porsche 991 911 GT2 RS Weissach / Type: Production / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 / Driver: Lars Kern / Date: September 20, 2017
The Type 991 GT2 RS had a few options that you could add to it when it was released. One of those options was the Weissach Package, which removed absolutely everything that was not needed for the car to operate. Audio system? Gone. Handsfree bluetooth? Weighed half a kilo, so it was out too. The Weissach Package made the GT2 RS into the hardest-core production 991 generation 911 you could buy.
With a target set “At or near 7 minutes and 5 seconds,” even Porsche themselves were stunned when they came in 17.7 seconds faster around the 20.6 km version of the Nordschleife at 6:47.3. Frank-Steffen Walliser, VP Porsche Motorsport and GT Cars, who was present for the attempt, credited the engineers, designers, development drivers, and both factory drivers that challenged the lap multiple times, Lars Kern and Nick Tandy. The car was so rapid that at no time did it breach 7 seconds, and the very first laps done by both came in under the previous record for production road-legal sports cars of 6:52.01.
It is scarcely believable after the superb Type 997 911 GT2 RS, but the Type 991 GT RS beat that car’s time by over half a minute. Onboard video.
6. Porsche 992 911 GT3
Lap Time: 6:55.34 / Car: Porsche 992 911 GT3 / Type: Pre-Production Validation Car / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R / Driver: Lars Kern / Date: September 15, 2020
Back in September 15, 2020, Lars Kern took a barely camouflaged, pre-production Type 992 911 GT3 around the ‘Ring in an adjusted 6:55.34 (20.8 KM time at 6:59.927). This was a production validation car, meaning that it was to be tested around the globe for road legality, emissions compliance, and the like, so that Porsche could start the actual production of the cars. Part of that validation, half-serious and half-tongue in cheek, was a trip to the Nordschleife to see just how rapid the newest GT3 was. To absolutely no one’s surprise, the answer was “quite rapid.” Onboard video
7. Porsche 991.2 911 GT3 RS Weissach
Lap Time: 6:56.4 / Car: Porsche 991.2 911 GT3 RS Weissach / Type: Production / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R / Driver: Kevin Estré / Date: April 16, 2018
In 2016, popular Porsche Works driver Kevin Estre took a Type 991.2 911 GT3 RS Weissach around the 20.6 KM version of the Nordschleife in 6:56.4. It was the first attempt at the record for the then new GT3 RS Weissach, and the car’s suspension was set up, as the Weissach package gave you adjustable suspension, by the expert at Porsche Motorsport for the attempt. There is no video of the attempt, however there is a video of him driving the ‘Ring with a passenger in just about 7 minutes and 15 seconds Bridge to Gantry (not the full lap), with traffic on the ‘Ring.
8. Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach
Lap Time: 6:57 / Car: Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach / Type: Production / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 N-0/ Driver: Marc Lieb / Date: September 4, 2013
Everyone knew, as the Porsche 918 Spyder hypercar was being developed, that it was going to be insanely fast. 887 HP from a V8 and two electric hybrid motors, in a car that had the weight-shaving Weissach Package applied, an $84,000 option. Pre-production testing on the ‘Ring had turned in a time of 7 minutes, 14 seconds, but when the 918 Spyder Weissach was run, it bettered its own record setting time by over 16 seconds.
In fact, two identical 918s were brought so that validation laps could be run by rally legend Walter Rorhl, Porsche test driver Timo Kluck, and Works racer Marc Lieb. All three of them turned in laps under 7 minutes, but it was Lieb’s mighty 6:57 that entered the record books. To give you an idea of just how fast that is, it beat a 720 HP Ferrari 599XX customer track car, and came in just 10 seconds slower than the incredible Pagani Zonda R, both cars not road legal.
To make the feat even more impressive, the 918 did the laps on its production road tires, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 N-0’s that were specifically made for the 918 only, and came with every car bought. Onboard video.
9. Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS
Lap Time: 7:04.511 / Car: Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS / Type: Pre-Production Validation Car / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R / Driver: Jorg Bergmeister / Date: October, 2021
In a lightly disguised pre-production validation car, factory driver Jorg Bergmeister monstered the newest addition to the 718 stable, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, around the Nordschleife in a scarcely believable, adjusted 7:04.511 (20.8 KM time of 7:09.3). This is a full 23.6 seconds faster than the non RS 718 GT4, mostly because the engine in the RS is from the Type 992 911 GT3, a 4.0L flat-six, that has had Porsche Motorsport have a little fiddle around with the internals to it now produces 493 howling HP. It costs about $150,000 to buy one of these track weapons, so it’s not cheap, but it’s also very, very special. Onboard video (turn the volume up for this one)
10. Porsche 991.2 911 GT3 4.0 CS
Lap Time: 7:12.7 / Car: Porsche 991 911 GT3 4.0 CS / Type: Production / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 / Driver: Lars Kern / Date: May 4, 2017
When the Type 991.2 911 GT3 4.0 was announced, and just before it began sales, development driver Lars Kern gave it a good spanking around the Nordschleife. With the Clubsport Package fitted, meaning it had a bolt in roll cage, racing harness, and racing GT seats in place of the leather bucket seats. In the hands of Lars Kern, it managed to run the ‘Ring in 7:12.7 on the 20.6 KM version of the circuit. Onboard video
11. Porsche 991.2 911 Turbo S Aerokit
Lap Time: 7:17.11 / Car: Porsche 991.2 911 Turbo S Aerokit / Type: Production / Tires: Pirelli P Zero Corsa / Driver: Christian Gebhardt / Date: August 24, 2017
The first entry on this list that was not an official Porsche factory attempt, the quite popular German magazine and TV show Sport Auto took a 991.2 Turbo S, with the optional Aerokit Package, around the ‘Ring. Test driver Christian Gebhardt, who has raced on the Nordschleife multiple times, was able to achieve a time of 7:17.11 on the 20.6 KM version of the circuit. What is particularly impressive about the time, and the 991.2 Turbo, is that there was no special set up and it was run on regular Pirelli P Zero Corsa road tires.
When you watch the onboard video, you can see that the car was, at times, dancing on the very limit, and it was only through Gebhardt’s efforts and the fact that the Turbo S has monstrous amounts of lateral, mechanical grip that the time was achieved.
In a bit of comedic irony, Sport Auto took the Type 992 911 Turbo S out in February2021 to see if it could beat its predecessor, and it came in at 7:17.29. Over the course of a lap, that equates to about half a car length!
12. Porsche 997 911 GT2 RS
Lap Time: 7:18 / Car: Porsche 997 911 GT2 RS / Type: Production / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup / Driver: Timo Kluck / Date: May, 2010
The story of the Type 997 911 GT2 RS’s run around the Nordschleife in May of 2010 started 3 years earlier, when “Project 727” was started deep within the skunkworks in Stuttgart. That name was chosen as it was the time that the Nissan GT-R had set around the ‘Ring, at 7:26.7. The GT2 RS was launched in 2008, but it was only in 2010, when everything for the attempt was perfect at the Nordschleife, did Porsche go for the GT-R’s time. It achieved a 7:18 time almost dead on, achieving the goal the entire car had been designed to meet.
13. Porsche 991.2 911 GT3
Lap Time: 7:18.2 / Car: Porsche 991.2 911 GT3 / Type: Production / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ‘N1’ / Driver: Christian Gebhardt / Date: April 28, 2017
Sport Auto, at the release of the Type 991.2 GT3, in their “Supertest” series where they run the car through every situation imaginable, challenged the ‘Ring with a bone-stock, as-a-customer-would-get-it GT3. No special setups, factory tires, the only thing special being that the car had a PDK instead of a manual. Christian Gebhardt was able to get the car to ride the razors edge of the limit, and came home in 7:18.2, 0.2 seconds slower than the previous generations top GT2 RS’s run done by Porsche themselves. If that doesn’t speak to how much of a jump the Type 991 car was over the Type 997, not much else will. Onboard video.
14. Porsche 991 911 Carrera GTS Turbo 3.0
Lap Time: 7:23.77 / Car: Porsche 991.2 911 Carrera GTS Turbo 3.0 / Type: Production / Tires: Pirelli P Zero Corsa / Driver: Christian Gebhardt / Date: May, 2017
Sport Auto, at this point, might as well ask to be part of the Porsche Test Team, as their Supertests have touched literally every sub-model of each Type of 911 since the mid 2000s! However, this one is important as it is the bone-stock Type 991.2 GTS that was positioned between the Carrera S and the Turbo, and had a whole boatload of options included as standard.
It is important to remember when watching this onboard video that this is a “normal” 911, not GT model or special edition. That means that the recorded time of 7:23.77, just 5 seconds slower than its GT3 cousin of the same Type, is pretty damned impressive!
15. Porsche 997 911 GT2 RS
Lap Time: 7:24 / Car: Porsche 997 911 GT2 RS / Type: Production / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup / Driver: Horst von Saurma / Date: 2010
The former chief editor of Sport Auto, Horst von Saurma, took your average road-going Type 997 GT2 RS and took it for a lap at the Nordschleife. This was one of the first Porsche’s that had a full Supertest done, so a time of 7:24 dead is a mighty achievement for a car that came before the power jump that the 991 generation brought with it!
16. Porsche Panamera 971 Turbo S 4.0 (non-hybrid)
Lap Time: 7:25.04 / Car: Porsche Panamera 971 Turbo S 4.0 (non-hybrid) / Type: Production / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 / Driver: Lars Kern / Date: August, 2020
If you thought that a four door executive sports saloon from Porsche was a bad idea, look at the time this car set, an adjusted 7:25.04 (20.8 KM time was 7:29.81. This set the lap record for a non-special edition, production executive saloon car. There are faster special versions like Mercedes-AMG and BMW M Cars, but no car has beaten the Panamera Turbo S 4.0 yet in for a production executive car. Onboard video.
17. Porsche Carrera GT
Lap Time: 7:28.0 / Car: Porsche Carrera GT / Type: Production / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 / Driver: Walter Rorhl / Date: July 2004
Multiple magazines and review TV shows were excited to try out the Porsche Carrera GT in 2004, however the German magazine Auto Bild was able to get their hands on one of the first production models, and somehow were able to wrangle in Walter Rorhl, the legendary rally driver. It makes sense why they would want Rorhl, as the Carrera GT in inexperienced hands would have most likely ended up in the barriers somewhere around the ‘Ring, but in the hands of a master, it screamed its V10 note all the way around the 20.8 KM Nordschleife in 7:28.0 dead on.
Other recorded times by other magazines include a time of 7:28.71 by EVO Magazine with driver Marc Basseng, and 7:32.4 in the hands of Horst von Saurma for Sport Auto.
18. Porsche 992 911 Carrera S
Lap Time: 7:30.41 / Car: Porsche 992 911 Carrera S / Type: Production / Tires: Pirelli P Zero NA1 / Driver: Christian Gebhardt / Date: 2019
In another thorough Supertest, Sport Auto discovered that the new Type 992 911 Carrera S was not just faster than its Type 991.2 counterpart, it obliterated it. Consider that this is “regular” 911 with a little bit of extra power and some sportier settings, but still what you could call a middle-range 911. Then look at the fact that it lapped the ‘Ring in 7:30.41, which is only 2 seconds slower than a Carrera GT, and 3 seconds faster than its predecessor, the Tpye 991.2 Carrera S. our minds are as blown as yours are. The onboard video is a fun one that puts a Type 964 Carrera RS against the Type 992 Carrera S, but the link will start you at the start of the 992’s run.
19. Porsche 997 911 GT2
Lap Time: 7:31 / Car: Porsche 997 911 GT2 / Type: Production / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup / Driver: Walter Röhrl / Date: 2007
Speaking of Type 997 GT2’s, Porsche ran this one around the ‘Ring a few days before its official release to the public. In the hands of Walter Rorhl, it managed a time of 7:31.00 dead, on the 20.8 KM layout of the Nordschleife. This was the second fastest of the Type 997 GT cars, beaten only by the GT2 RS (naturally), and is still an amazingly quick lap considering that it was run on an overcast day, meaning lower track temperatures.
Sport Auto also did a test of the same car a few months later, and Horst von Saurma was only 2 seconds slower at 7:33. This, for all intents and purposes, was a demonstration of just what Rohrl can do with a car, as the Sport Auto test went slower on a clear day with a warm track.
20. Porsche 997 911 GT3 RS 3.8
Lap Time: 7:33 / Car: Porsche 997 911 GT3 RS 3.8 / Type: Production / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup / Driver: Horst von Saurma / Date: 2010
Part of a Sport Auto Supertest on the newly released Type 997 GT3 RS 3.8, Horst von Saurma was able to pedal around the ‘Ring in 7:33, matching the time he managed in a Type 997 GT2. This caused a bit of a stir when the results were announced, as not even Porsche were truly considering the GT3 RS as fast as either of the GT2 versions, but that’s why independent testing will sometimes show some awesome truths. We bet it felt good to read that article when you’d bought a GT3 RS instead of splurging the extra money for a GT2 in 2010!
21. Porsche Taycan Turbo S
Lap Time: 7:33.35 / Car: 2023 Porsche Taycan Turbo S / Type: Production / Tires: Pirelli P Zero Corsa / Driver: Lars Kern / Date: August 10, 2022
If anyone doubted that the Taycan was the best sports EV you can get today, this lap proved that it can go seriously fast. The Turbo S had the Tequipment performance kit and PDCC options added, but other than that was a normal Taycan Turbo S. Well, we say normal, if 751 HP and 774 lbs-ft of torque is “normal.” To this day, it holds the record for the fastest production sports EV, with the only things faster being electric race cars and electric hypercars. Onboard video.
22. Porsche 991.2 911 Carrera S
Lap Time: 7:33.67 / Car: Porsche 991.2 911 Carrera S / Type: Production / Tires: Pirelli P Zero N1 / Driver: Christian Gebhardt / Date: May 2016
It is often said that a 911 Carrera S has a certain magic about it that makes it feel faster than a “base” 911 Carrera, but with the Type 991.2, that certain magic was adding a pair of turbos to the flat-six hanging out back for a pretty hefty bump in power over the Type 991.1’s naturally aspirated six-banger. With that extra power came the rework of the 991.2’s suspension, to give it better driving feel and handling, and with a little sprinkling of a supremely talented driver, the Type 991.2 Carrera S did the ‘Ring in 7:33.67. Watch the Video
23. Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT
Lap Time: 7:33.95 / Car: Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT / Type: Production / Tires: Pirelli P Zero Corsa / Driver: Lars Kern / Date: June 14, 2021
No, that is not a typo. Yes, the Cayenne Turbo GT is that fast. Not much else needs to be said, apart from this is still the official record for any SUV, super or not.
It was an official test too, with notaries and official timekeepers to verify the onboard time, with the only modification to the car being a roll cage, since SUVs have a tendency to roll if they get sideways. Speaking of onboards, could you imagine the grin on Lars’ face as he took this ridiculously fast beast around the ‘Ring?
24. Porsche 991 911 Turbo S
Lap Time: 7:34 / Car: Porsche 991 911 Turbo S / Type: Production / Tires: Dunlop Sport Maxx Race / Driver: Horst von Saurma / Date: 2013
Not much information exists about this test apart from the Sport Auto article. No onboard video either, sadly. The most important fact about this time is that this is a top of the line Turbo S for the Type 991.1 generation, and a Type 991.2 Carrera S was able to beat it. Barely, but that’s still a damned impressive feat, because the Turbo S is about as far from a sedate sports car as you can get before hitting supercar territory.
25. Porsche 911 997 Turbo S
Lap Time: 7:37.90 / Car: Porsche 997 911 Turbo S / Type: Production / Tires: Unknown / Driver: Unknown Factory Driver / Date: ~ May 2010
It seems that the 10 seconds between 7 minutes and 30 seconds and 7 minutes and 40 seconds is where the Porsche Turbo cars like to live. That’s in no way a dig against them, as any time around the ‘Ring in under 8 minutes is worth putting in your sales brochure, and any time that’s under 7:40 is edging into “holy (censored) that’s a fast car!” territory. As such, when Porsche was rattling it’s saber about the Nissan GT-R having done an invalid time by not using a production car, they added Exhibit A by sending at Type 997 Turbo S around the place, and it returned a 7:37.9, 0.1 seconds faster than an independently tested GT-R run by Sport Auto the year before of 7:38.
26. Porsche Panamera 971 Turbo 4.0
Lap Time: 7:38.46 / Car: Porsche Panamera 971 Turbo 4.0 / Type: Production / Tires: Unknown / Driver: Lars Kern / Date: ~ June 2016
Even in its first generation, the Panamera Turbo was not the type of car to simply lie down and be considered a slow limousine, oh hell no. So when it monstered the ‘Ring in 7:38.46, less than a second slower than a Type 997 911 Turbo S, people sat up and noticed. All of a sudden, the “weird looking” executive saloon car made sense, the shape making it aerodynamic, the power smooth and constant, the handling, which was considered too sharp by some, making sense in how you could feel the road. This is the Panamera time that changed the view of many from “meh, ugly” to “okay, makes sense,” and that’s worth highlighting with the onboard video.
27. Porsche 911 997 Turbo 3.8
Lap Time: 7:39 / Car: Porsche 997 911 Turbo 3.8 / Type: Production / Tires: Unknown / Driver: Unknown Factory Driver / Date: 2009
Very little is known about this run of the Nordschleife, only that it was a Sport Auto organized run during a test period that also included the Porsche Type 997 911 GT3 3.8. It is possible that it was a comparison run by Horst von Saurna so that there would be data points to compare when the GT3 3.8 was taken around the track, but not officially confirmed.
28. Porsche 911 997 GT3 3.8
Lap Time: 7:40 / Car: Porsche 997 911 GT3 3.8 / Type: Production / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup / Driver: Horst von Saurma / Date: 2009
While many used car guides will say that if you want to buy a used Type 997 GT3, you want to look for the 4.0L model, that isn’t to say that the first version, the 3.8L model, was slow. It most certainly was, and is, not, as it set a blistering 7:40 seconds lap around the ‘Ring when driven by Sport Auto for their Supertest. As we mentioned a few cars back, any time under 8 minutes is notable, and any time at 7:40 and below is approaching the “This is seriously fast” territory. It’s a bit grainy and in 4:3 format, but the audio from the onboard video is worth it all on its own. Why is it that GT3’s always sound so angry and mean and awesome all the time? Watch the Video
29. Porsche Taycan
Lap Time: 7:42.34 / Car: Porsche Taycan / Type: Pre-Production / Tires: Unknown / Driver: Lars Kern / Date: August 2019
Germany is definitely the place you want to be when you need to test all aspects of a sports car, especially one that was about to change the world forever. You have the Autobahn for long distances at speed to test range and endurance. You have Aerolessein, the VW test track which is one of the few places in the world that you can take a 918 Spyder, a Rimac Nevara, or any other hypercar to v-max. Then, you have the Nurburgring Nordschleife, the ultimate test track. Long straights, tight, twisting corners. Massive elevation changes. It was the natural and ultimate test of the Taycan to show that it meant serious business, and with a time of 7:42.34, it did just that. Watch the Video
30. Porsche Cayman 981 GT4
Lap Time: 7:42.39 / Car: Porsche Cayman 981 GT4 / Type: Production / Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 / Driver: Christian Gebhardt / Date: April 2015
Consider the fact that during the 981 generation, this was the fastest Cayman you could buy. It is hanging around in the strata where the words Turbo, GT3, and Special Edition float about, which is seriously impressive. The 918 Cayman was also much, much improved over the previous generation, with positive dynamics that erased the mild understeer from the first generation Cayman. Combine that with the motorsport-inspired updates and upgrades over a regular Cayman to make it a GT4, and set the PASM to its raciest setting, and all of a sudden this fun car becomes a track missile. Don’t believe us? Watch the Video.
