Time for a track battle – with a difference! Mat’s brought together the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 and the entry-level 911 Carrera, and he’s taking them both out on a hot lap. Now, it may seem pretty obvious which car will set the fastest lap time… But given there is a £40,000 price difference between these two 911s, we wanted to find out just how much more performance you get for £40k!
Let’s take a look at the stats, starting with the 911 Carrera. It’s powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six that delivers 385hp & 450Nm, and tops the scales at 1,505kg. The 911 GT3, meanwhile, being a track-focused car, is a bit lighter, weighing 1,435kg. It’s packing a glorious 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six engine that revs to 9,000rpm and puts down an impressive 510hp & 470Nm – that’s just 20Nm more than the Carrera!
