2023 Porsche Lineup
Porsche has so many models these days that it is hard to figure out what is going on each year.
If you're looking for a family SUV, Porsche has the top-dog Cayenne, available in 13 variants. The 2023 Cayenne lineup is pretty standard fare, with all the familiar variants accounted for in the base Cayenne, the Cayenne S, the Cayenne E-Hybrid, Cayenne GTS, Cayenne Turbo, Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid and Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid available. Porsche introduced the Cayenne Turbo GT version in 2022 and it is carried over in 2023 largely unchanged.
The Macan SUV is back again in 2023. Things have stayed the same for the 2023 model year Macans, with very few changes. Porsche added a Macan T trim to the lineup which features an adaptive suspension as well as the brand's popular Sport Chrono package, which includes a set of driving modes and a launch-control feature. The Macan T is powered by the base Macan's 261-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine. While 2023 is quiet for the Macan, big changes are coming in 2024 when Porsche launches the all-electric Macan. The bodywork should be standard Macan fiar, but with a new front and rear facia to differentiate it. The electric powertrain will be new to the Macan lineup, and it will be one of the first models to ride on a new electric platform shared by Porsche and Audi.
There isn't much wrong with the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman so once again Porsche tweaked things versus making big changes. The 718s get new color options, while wired Apple CarPlay is now included on the 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Boxster Spyder, the final two Porsches not to offer the tech. It's worth noting the Cayman GT4 RS-the most capable, extreme incarnation of the coupe to date-is now fully available, getting its 4.0-liter flat-six from the 911 GT3. Prices start at $150,550; the weight-shaving Weissach package adds $13,250. Porsche also announced the Style Edition Boxster and Cayman, but they won't arrive until the 2024 model year.
All 911s receive various updates and additions to available wheel designs and colors, plus an optional Heritage Design Package Classic. The latter is now based on the 911 Turbo platform for the first time. Porsche also gives us another special edition, the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America Edition to commemorate the introductions of the 356 America Roadster in 1972. It's available only with the seven-speed manual gearbox and in Azure Blue 356 exterior paint. Also new is the second model in the Heritage Design series, the aforementioned Sport Classic, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Carrera 2.7 RS and paying tribute to another RS homage, the 2010 Sport Classic. Power comes from the 911's 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six, detuned to 543 hp and 442 Ib-ft to accommodate the standard-fit seven-speed manual. A unique quarter panel features the Turbo's fender bulges without intake vents, and the Sport Classic is further distinguished by a double-bubble roof, carbon-fiber hood, unique interior trim, and-of course-a ducktail spoiler. Just 1,250 will be produced worldwide. Finally, we get the 911 Dakar, an off-road 911, a limited edition like no other. Offroad anybody?
For racers around the world who feel the GT3 just isn't aggressive enough, for 2023 we get the GT3 RS. More aggressive bodywork, more downforce, a bigger rear wing, more mechanical grip, and more power. Available only with Porsche's seven-speed twin-clutch PDK gearbox, this is the track monster of the 2023 Porsche lineup.
The Porsche Panamera and Taycan are still around too. The Panamera range gets standard adaptive cruise control across the board, while the Taycan range gets improvements around battery software and the infotainment system.

2023 Porsche SUVs
The are two SUVs in the Porsche family. The Porsche Macan is a compact SUV that has five doors, five seats and resolutely remains the sports car of the compact SUV segment. The Macan has powerful engines and awesome handling, but it isn’t spacious for family duties. For that, you need to go to the fullsize Cayenne SUV. The The 2023 Porsche Cayenne delivers great performance and has a luxury interior, as well as lots of space, and is probably the top luxury midsize SUV in its class. The Cayenne is also available in a bewildering number of powertrains and now in two bodystyles (the normal SUV and new coupe).
2023 Porsche Sedans
The 2023 Porsche Panamera finishes near the top of our super luxury car rankings according to most publications and with its ability to do pretty much everything right, combining stellar performance, a world-class cabin and great looks it is a hard proposition to be disappointed by. Its biggest competition actually comes from the new electric Taycan, which is the best electric car in the world and absolutely stunning in every respect. We would choose the Taycan over the Panamera and that isn't something we expected to say a few years ago. Both the Taycan and Panameras are available in several bodystyles and variants.
2023 Porsche Sportscars
Gone are the days when the Porsche Boxtster and Cayman were seen as second class citizens in the Porsche sportscar standings. Today, these models are arguably the more fun sportscars, especially given that the 911 is bigger, more luxurious and less visceral than in previous generations. The Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder are the special editions, but you can get your 718 in lots of flavors. Speaking of which, you can now get your 911 in 23 different variants. From the base 911 to the GT3 and mighty 911 Turbo, there is a 911 for every buyer. You can't go wrong with any of them, so just buy with your situation in mind and not your ego.
Common Questions
Best New Porsche
We get asked this one all the time and the answer is dependent on how you plan on using your car and your driving needs. Boring answer we know, but it is true. If you have a small family and want something that is fun as a first time Porsche buyer, you can't go wrong with any Macan. While the GTS models get pricey, for the money they are worth it. Larger family and ferrying kids everywhere means you need to move to a Cayenne. Prices go up a lot, but you get a lot extra for the money. Have lots of money, want an SUV but the Urus is too ostentatious? Then the Cayenne GT Coupe is the one for you. If you're shopping for a sedan/wagon there are two choices, either the Panamera or the Taycan. The Panamera does everything amazingly well and in GTS or Turbo S E-Hybrid form, it is a truly special drivers car too. The Taycan is Porsche's first electric car and it is an absolute monster in terms of performance. Next comes the Boxster/Cayman duo and they're basically perfect. Just pick the GTS 4.0 version of either and you will be very happy.
Best New Porsche 911 to Buy
When it comes to the 911, there are dozens of choices but for us you either get a GTS because you drive on the street and maybe do a track day once in a while or you get a 911 Turbo S. The GTS comes in Coupe, Cabriolet and Targa bodystyles and has both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive drivetrains. We love the manual gearbox in the GTS, but the dual clutch is also pretty amazing too, again it depends on how you plan to use it. The GT3 variants are out of touch and going for $100k over sticker. If you can get one of those at a reasonable price, it is best sportscar on the planet and you won't be disappointed. The Turbo and Turbo S are both great cars, and what they give up in terms of engagement versus a GTS or GT3 they easily make up for in sheer performance and luxury. If you are daily driving a 911, a 911 Turbo S is a nice place to be.
Best (Value) New Porsche for the Money
So which is the best new Porsche for the money. The base Porsche 911 is an amazing car for the money. We all talk about the GT cars and the higher spec cars, but if you bought a base 911 and never sampled those more exotic variants, you would not be disappointed. They are powerful, fast and super engaging driver cars that do everything really well. If you don't want a 911, then a 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 is probably the other new Porsche bargain. On the SUV front, the normal Macan S is great overall value while the Taycan 4S is also reasonably priced for what you get.
Best New Porsche for Investment (Least Depreciation)
If you can get your hands on a Targa 4 GTS, it holds it's value really well because it has the looks and the performance combination that everybody wants. They are lusted over by buyers and always do well in terms of depreciation over the years. They are hard to get, but hold their value. A 911 GTS Coupe with a manual transmission is the other car worth mentioning because everybody wants a manual and the ideal specced car and years down the line the GTS Coupe with manual often hits that sweet spot for buyers. If you are lucky enough to get an allocation for the GT3 or GT3 Touring then expect to pay A LOT over sticker and at some point those cars come back down to earth, so while they are the best cars Porsche makes, they aren't the best investments. As always, rarity also matters with Porsche, so the limited edition Dakar, GTS Cabriolet America Edition and Sport Classic are likely to maintain their value for a long time.
