The Porsche 911 GT2 RS made its debut with the 997 generation in 2010 and received widespread acclaim. In 2018, the 991-generation GT2 RS was introduced, boasting 80 additional horsepower and 37 more pound-feet of torque compared to its predecessor. It’s capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in a blistering 2.8 seconds, can cover a standing quarter-mile in just 10.5 seconds, and will go on until it reaches a top speed of 211 mph.
Powering the 991 GT2 RS is a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six engine that delivers an astounding 691 horsepower at 22 pounds of boost. The torque is substantial, with 553 pound-feet available between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm. This power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a seven-speed PDK twin-clutch transmission and a 3.96 differential with electronically controlled limited-slip. The Porsche VarioCam system plays a crucial role in achieving these remarkable figures by optimizing timing as the engine speed changes.
Despite its immense power, the 911 GT2 RS is also exceptionally lightweight. Extensive use of carbon fiber, including components like the roof panel, anti-roll bars, and front lid courtesy of the optional $18,000 Weissach Package, puts the car’s weight at just 3,241 pounds.
The striking example you see here courtesy of Bring A Trailer, finished in paint-to-sample Club Blau over black leather and Alcantara upholstery, was originally acquired by Roger Penske Jr. at Porsche Stevens Creek of Santa Clara, California, before it was purchased by its current owner in 2021. Notably, this GT2 RS has been specified with the the $18k Weissach Package, featuring extensive carbon-fiber trim and lightweight components.
Additional features include the Sport Chrono Package, 20″ and 21″ magnesium center-lock wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes with yellow calipers, a front-axle lift system, rear-axle steering, LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), a rear wing, PCM with navigation, automatic climate control, carbon-fiber interior trim, a Bose sound system, carbon-fiber full bucket seats, and aluminum pedals.
The 991-generation GT2 RS is regarded as the flagship of Porsche’s high-performance road cars, this example offered with only 973 miles, is set to remain a top contender in the sports car segment, making it an attractive addition to any collection.
