A stock Porsche 911 Turbo S, particularly from the 991-generation, is already an impressive vehicle. With a 560-horsepower 3.8L twin-turbo flat-six, it can achieve a 60 mph sprint in 2.6 seconds. Yet, for some enthusiasts, these figures are not enough, leading them to transform it into one of the fastest-accelerating gasoline-powered street cars on the planet.
However, it’s crucial to note that Formula One race cars and Moto GP bikes are designed exclusively for high-speed performance. In a recent drag race video from carwow, we’ll see if a modified Porsche can keep up with these two racing machines.
The featured Porsche 991 Turbo S in this video has undergone modifications by ES Motor, reaching an impressive 1,400 horsepower at its peak. However, due to damp conditions, the car has been tuned down to a still impressive 1,200 horsepower. Benefiting from all-wheel drive and a 7-speed PDK that executes lightning-quick shifts, the 911 is well-equipped to launch on a wet track.
On the other side, the KTM RC16, piloted by the skilled Dani Pedrosa, is powered by a 1.0-liter V4 engine producing 270 horsepower, all contained within a lightweight 157-kilogram frame. Despite having only two wheels to harness its power, it boasts the best weight-power ratio among the contenders.
The F1 Red Bull RB8, driven by Sebastian Vettel to a world championship victory in 2012, features an 800-horsepower 2.4-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine and weighs 700 kilograms.
