The Carwow channel organized a drag race between two Porsche models: a modified 911 Turbo S and the 918 Spyder.
The Porsche 918 Spyder is a limited-run hypercar that impressed the industry with remarkable figures when it was originally released. Its initial price was over $800,000, but due to its rarity, it has now surpassed a million dollars in value. Only 918 units of this plug-in hybrid were ever sold. It boasts a 4.6-liter V8 engine paired with two electric motors, delivering a total power output of 875 horsepower and an impressive 944 pound-feet of torque.
On the other hand, the Porsche 911 Turbo S, with its twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat-six engine, is no slouch. In its stock form, it produces 641 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Interestingly, the 911 Turbo S accelerates from 0 to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) two-tenths of a second faster than the 918 Spyder.
However, the Turbo S featured in the video has undergone modifications with the ES Motor 750 package, boosting its power output to 888 hp. This power is channeled to all four wheels through a PDK dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and it weighs slightly less than the 918, tipping the scales at 1,640 kg.
Will the tuned Porsche 911 Turbo S have a chance of beating the 918 Spyder? Watch the video as the carwow crew pitted these two beasts in a series of drag races to see which one’s faster!
