Porsche’s Electric Car Is Wicked Powerful
The Porsche Taycan is the electric car that will help change Porsche and the rest of the automotive world. The vehicle is a marvel of automotive engineering and recently set the record around the Nurburgring. Recent reports indicate that the car can make 700 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque briefly. This boost of power would come in handy in high-performance driving scenarios. According to Autocar, the Taycan Turbo S has an overboost function that will shoot the power up to 700 hp for 2.5-second bursts.
According to the publication, this should put the Taycan’s 0-62 mph time under the three-second mark despite its somewhat large body and overall heavy curb weight due to the batteries included with the car. Autocar’s Andrew Frankel had a chance to get behind the wheel of the Taycan to tell you what all it’s about and what it’s like to drive. We’ll not spoil his review, so head over to Autocar to check it out.
What interests us is the overboost function he discusses. Both the Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S have this feature, but it’s only the Turbo S that will make 700 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque. That’s a ton of power. It’s important to note that both Turbo models already make around 600 hp, so the jump isn’t wildly insane, but it’s still a significant one. An extra 100 hp for 2.5 seconds is no joke. The Taycan is going to be one awesome car.
