Singer Vehicle Design – Tatooine Commission
Today, we take a closer look at the Singer Vehicle Designs Tatooine Commission. Like other Classic Study cars, the Tatooine was built in Singer’s California location. This car was shared with the public in October 2021.
The Tatooine Commission is a 4.0L, LHD coupe with carbon-fiber bodywork and is presented in Blue Blood with light ghosted side stripes and lettering in Laverda Blue. The external, side-mounted oil filler is specified, accompanied by a center-mounted external fuel filler. The carbon ceramic braking system is specified, with brake calipers presented in Champagne Gold and black lettering. Wheels are specified with open lugnuts and are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The carbon fiber rear engine cover features raised nickel badging with coordinating nickel-finish bumperettes.
The interior of the Tatooine commission is appointed in Cognac leather by the experts at Singer’s interiors facility in California. Lightweight carbon-fiber track seats come with bespoke-weave seat centers and seat backs matched to the body color in Blue Blood. Floor panels, sills and transmission tunnel are also presented in Blue Blood, with bespoke weave continuing across the dash strip. The seat backs are color-matched to the exterior in Blue Blood. Cognac leather is continued down the transmission tunnel and into the rear compartment, where folding rear seat backs are specified. In the front luggage compartment, Cognac leather is combined with Alabaster stitching. Gauges are presented in black with cream markings except for the tachometer, which is matched to the car’s exterior. The gear shifter is specified in mahogany and ebony with the shift pattern in Laverda Blue. Lower down, drilled footboards have been specified, together with floor panels matched to the car’s exterior in Blue Blood.
At the heart of the Tatooine Commission is this 4.0L, naturally-aspirated, air-cooled flat-six. In this case the owner has specified a 6-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive. The engine itself is presented with a ceramic plenum finish and the exhaust system is specified with a black ceramic finish.
