At the end of 2011, the Styrian started to shape Porsche’s return to top motorsport, with a new building, new staff and a new vehicle. Four years later he harvested great success by winning the 17th overall victory for Porsche at Le Mans, including both the Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ titles in the FIA World Endurance Championship. In 2015, the French motorsport magazine Auto Hebdo named him ‘Manager of the Year.’
Success came quicker than anticipated and this can be attributed to Enzinger’s wealth of experience. He spent 30 years at BMW in the fields of company strategy, sponsoring, personnel structure and team management through to driver contracts. He played an important role in winning touring car races, and also in the company’s overall victory in Le Mans in 1999, and he also had success in Formula 1. He has always been someone who shies away from the limelight and that hasn’t changed. The mechanical engineer’s door is always open for his staff, and he feels more comfortable in jeans and a shirt than in a collar and tie. It wasn’t the prestige or the accolade that drew him to Porsche. What drew him to Weissach was the terrific opportunity to be able to shape a project of this magnitude from its infancy.
