Unveiled at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show, the 911 Dakar pays homage to the Porsche 953’s triumphant victory in the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally. To create the new Dakar, Porsche modified the Carrera 4 GTS and transformed it into a very capable off-roader with modifications including increased ground clearance, all-terrain tires, specialized drive modes, and weight-saving measures.
The 992 Dakar comes equipped with various technologies, such as Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), Porsche Traction Management, Sport Chrono Package with Dakar-specific engine mounts and ‘Offroad’ and ‘Rallye’ modes, Power steering Plus, and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), along with Rear-Axle Steering.
Featuring stainless-steel protection guards on the front and rear aprons, a lightweight carbon-fiber bonnet, a fixed CFRP rear spoiler, an Exclusive Design fuel filler cap, and black wheel arch moldings, the 911 Dakar offered here, courtesy of Collecting Cars, is number 448 of the limited production run of 2,500 units. It boasts a desirable specification and is offered for sale with just 2,164 miles, finished in black with a matte black finish on the 20-inch alloy wheels, housing black painted brake calipers and wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain tires.
Inside, the fixed carbon-fiber bucket seats are trimmed in black leather with Race-Tex center panels, accompanied by a leather-trimmed multifunction heated GT Sports steering wheel, leather steering column trim, and leather sun visors. The interior also features the matt carbon interior package.
Equipped with the Porsche Sports Exhaust, cruise control, ParkAssist with Surround View, power-fold mirrors, rev counter in white, Sport Chrono stopwatch instrument dial in white, the Porsche Crest on Storage Compartment Lid, and the Bose surround-sound system, this 911 Dakar also includes the Rallye Sport Package, featuring a black powder-coated steel roll bar behind the seats, a fire extinguisher in the passenger footwell, and six-point Schroth harnesses.
Powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six engine producing up to 473bhp, and driving all four wheels via an eight-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission with paddle shift, the 911 Dakar accelerates from 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 149mph.
Having been enjoyed by its first owner and surpassing the running-in process, this Porsche 911 Dakar is ready for another enthusiast to thoroughly enjoy, whether its on or off the road.
