The Porsche 918 Spyder ceased production in 2015 after a brief two-year span, with only 918 units manufactured. Despite its discontinuation, it remains Porsche’s latest hypercar.
In a recent video, a 2015 918 Spyder with the Weissach package showcased its impressive capabilities by reaching a top speed of 214 mph at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center.
Equipped with a hybrid powertrain, the 918 Spyder combines a 4.6-liter V8 engine sourced from Porsche’s LMP2 race car with two electric motors and a 6.8-kilowatt-hour battery pack. The system delivers an output of 875 bhp and 944 pound-feet of torque. The video mentions 887 bhp, which refers to the metric horsepower rating.
It’s also worth noting that the official top speed figure provided by Porsche for the 918 Spyder matches the speed achieved in the video: 214 mph.
