Singer Vehicle Design – Kensington Commission
Today, we take a closer look at the Singer Vehicle Designs Kensington Commission. First of all, this car is a Classic Study which means it is restored by the team based at Singer’s California center of operations.
This Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer is a right hand drive, rear-wheel-drive coupe, with carbon fiber bodywork presented in Red Blood – Dark. It gets a centrally mounted, external fuel filler. Wheels are specified with open lug nuts and wear Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Behind them sit carbon ceramic brakes, and calipers specified in Red Blood – Dark with white lettering. At the rear of the car, bumperettes are specified with a nickel finish, while the engine cover features 4.0L badging, and raised nickel lettering. The exhaust system is specified with a black ceramic finish.
The interior is Cognac with bespoke leather weave seat centers. The early 911 gauge style has been specified and the dials are presented with green markings against a black background, with nickel trim. Leather weave in Cognac is specified for the dash strip and continues on the door panels. The floor and transmission tunnel are carpeted in square weave Tan. The Kensington commission is specified with air-conditioning and navigation. The owner has specified lightweight carbon fiber track seats. These are presented in Cognac with bespoke, leather weave seat centers, nickel grommets and seat backs in piano black. The sills, transmission tunnel and lower surfaces in the rear compartment are carpeted in square-weave Tan. The front luggage compartment is upholstered in Cognac, with Alabaster stitching.
Powering the Kensington commission is a 4.0L, naturally-aspirated, air-cooled flat-six. The engine has a ceramic plenum finish and drives the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox. Externally, the engine cover features 4.0L badging on the speed-activated rear spoiler and raised nickel lettering on the engine cover.
