Could it be better than a turbo? How about a GT3?
This is the new 2022 model year Porsche 911 GTS, tested both on a road and at a race track. You can have a GTS as a coupe, cabriolet or with Targa body style. It can be had in two or four wheel drive and with either a seven-speed manual or an eight-speed PDK automatic gearbox. The new GTS has more power than a regular Carrera S, with its 3.0-litre flat six turbocharged engine making 473bhp, up by 30bhp over a 992 Carrera S.
But it’s in the suspension department where the GTS gets the most attention. Its ride height is dropped by 10mm over a Carrera S and it has Turbo-style wheels, brakes and suspension. Exterior identifying features are largely limited to black badges and wheels and ‘dark chrome’ styling elements. Inside there’s lots of suede-like upholstery and new decor, but also the option of a Lightweight package that cuts 25kg from the GTS’s kerbweight. This all sounds quite compelling.
