Porsche Vision 918 RS (2019)
The Porsche Vision 918 RS is a supercar concept, designed and built by Porsche in 2019, to preview what essentially could be the next generation of a trackday, street-legal Porsche 918 if it were still in production. The evolution of the 918 definitely feels like it could have gone this way which proved that Porsche’s design team in Weissach conceived the Vision 918 RS Concept with a view of making it real one day.
The design team took the basics of the 918 Spyder and installed an aerodynamically optimized body, in addition to enhanced drive and chassis technology. Some of the design elements, none of which bear resemblance to the original Porsche 918, include sharp and soft creases and large air intakes, three fins on the widened rear fenders and roof, a big diffuser at the back, enlarged side skirts, reshaped front hood and new front and rear lights. Porsche said that the concept’s supposed powertrain would have had to been stronger in power than the original Porsche 918. Overall, the RS has a lower nose and looked more aggressive with that large duct near the base of the windshield. The opening in the front fascia is quite a bit bigger, too, and there’s a prominent splitter. There are now skinny, vertically oriented headlights on the fenders.
